What a computer with a human mind means

Hyperloop is a company with one mission: a computer with a human mind.

Hyperloop is designing a brain-like computer: a computer with a human mind. The design is complete on paper; nothing has been built yet.

Not affiliated with the hyperloop transport concept or hyperloop-ai.com.

The mission in plain words

Hyperloop's mission is a computer with a human mind. That is the whole of the work. The company exists to do it and does nothing else.

The aim is a computer that has a mind in the way a person has a mind. It would take in the world, keep what matters, and think about it. It would not only follow a list of steps that someone wrote for it in advance.

Hyperloop is designing this as a brain-like computer. Brain-like, also called neuromorphic, means that the design takes its shape from the brain and not from the computers in use today. The design includes a brain-like chip.

The words are chosen with care. A computer with a human mind is the aim of the work. It is not a description of a machine that exists.

What it is not

It is not mind uploading. Nobody's mind is copied, scanned or moved into a machine, and that is not the plan.

It is not a copy of a person. The aim is a mind of its own, not a digital version of someone who lives or has lived.

It is not a product you can buy. There is nothing to order, download or try, and there is no waiting list. The work is a design.

It is not the hyperloop transport concept. Hyperloop has nothing to do with trains or travel. It is not affiliated with that concept, with HyperloopTT or with hyperloop-ai.com. The name is the only thing they share.

Where the work stands

Design complete on paper. Nothing built yet.

This is the status of the company's main work, the brain-like computer. No part of it has been made, run or tested. When that changes, the status page will say so, with a date.

Hyperloop Cooling, the cooling plant, is a design / idea, nothing built.

Hyperloop Space holds earlier ideas for orbit. They are kept as ideas, not as plans.

How Hyperloop writes about the work

Hyperloop writes about the work in plain words and says only what is true. A design is called a design. Nothing on this site should be read as a claim that a machine exists, that it works, or that it can be used.

For background on the field, there is a short primer on brain-like computers, and there are answers to common questions in the FAQ.
